You are nearly there!! Now it gets exciting. Your agent will now be contacting the Notaria to arrange the Signing of the Deeds (Escritura Publica de Compraventa) and therefore completing the sale. This meeting can be as soon as 2 weeks after signing the Private Contract but it is usually around 4 weeks. Once your agent has arranged an appointment you can either go and sign the contact in person or if you cannot attend you can set up a Power of Attorney so that someone can do this on your behalf. This is when you will need to pay the balance of the purchase including taxes and Notary’s fees.
